Last year my friend, Melissa, and I taught a class for adults through our Teachers Teach Teachers. It was a lot of fun and good practice for what comes next – getting paid some extra play money for something I love to do, play with my gelli plate and scratch foam.

We made a flyer, put it on the Facebook Arts and Group page, and got a good number of participants.  Melissa took on the next step, ordering all the supplies from Amazon, calculating shipping charges, and handling all the small stuff.  I proceeded to make stencils, gather paints, and get my room ready for the big event.

This was our main display and demonstration table.

I spent a lot of time cutting out stencils for everyone to use.  So much easier to buy them.

Melissa introduced me to the wonderful world of stencilgirlproducts.com.  I will be making a few purchases in the near future.

We even had a syllabus of sorts.  We divided our lesson into parts, demonstrating gelli plates and then scratchfoam.

Once we gave our lessons, we simply walked around, watched people play and gave advice as needed. IMG_2361.jpg

Didn’t take much pictures.  I have a video but it’s pretty boring.  Everyone is just doing their thing, making art and having fun.  All in all, it was a fantastic afternoon and I hope we can do more of these classes in the future.  We will be looking at what you can do with your prints next so now we have to learn more on that ourselves.

I like teaching these classes because I need deadlines.  I keep meaning to create art in my free time, but other things seem to eat up my time.  If I have a deadline, or a purpose, this helps me to focus my energy in this area and I FIND the time.  I found the time to do this, so now I just need to dedicate more time to this part of the my life.  It really does make me happy.
